Consultant – Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia

About the role

Black Pearl is recruiting on behalf of a leading healthcare provider in Abu Dhabi to deliver consultant‑level anesthetic care for neonates, infants and children undergoing congenital and acquired cardiac procedures. The role involves providing safe, evidence‑based anesthesia across pre‑operative, intra‑operative and immediate post‑operative phases, working within a multidisciplinary cardiac team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑operative assessment, intra‑operative anesthesia and immediate post‑operative management for pediatric cardiac surgery and catheter‑based interventions.
• Manage complex congenital heart disease cases, cardiopulmonary bypass, invasive monitoring, vasoactive therapy and peri‑operative emergencies.
• Collaborate with congenital cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, perfusionists, intensivists and specialist nursing teams.
• Support cardiac theatre, catheterisation laboratory, transport and critical‑care pathways within approved privileges.
• Participate in on‑call coverage, clinical governance, morbidity and mortality review, simulation and service improvement activities.
• Supervise junior medical staff and promote effective communication with patients and families.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with infection‑prevention, medication safety and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Medical degree with recognised Anesthesiology specialty qualification.
• Formal Pediatric Anesthesia and/or Cardiac Anesthesia fellowship training with documented paediatric cardiac practice.
• Tier 1 qualification and Department of Health – Abu Dhabi Consultant‑level experience in high‑volume congenital cardiac anesthesia.
• Active, unrestricted professional registration/licensure in the most recent country of practice and eligibility for a DOH‑Abu Dhabi Consultant licence.
