Consultant – Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery

About the role

The position is for a senior consultant to provide highly specialized surgical care for children with congenital and acquired craniofacial conditions within a multidisciplinary pediatric centre in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and surgically manage craniosynostosis, facial clefts, craniofacial trauma, congenital deformities and complex reconstructive cases.
• Plan staged treatment together with neurosurgery, plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, orthodontics and pediatric anesthesia.
• Perform craniofacial reconstruction and related procedures within approved clinical privileges.
• Lead pre‑operative selection, informed consent, peri‑operative planning and longitudinal post‑operative follow‑up.
• Maintain detailed outcomes, complication and operative‑log data and contribute to multidisciplinary craniofacial clinics.
• Supervise junior medical staff and support multidisciplinary decision‑making.
• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, credentialing and departmental education.

Required profile

• Medical degree with recognized Plastic Surgery or other DOH‑accepted surgical specialty qualification.
• Formal Craniofacial Surgery fellowship with substantial paediatric training.
• Qualification and experience meeting UAE Professional Qualification Requirements for a Consultant title.
• Active, unrestricted professional registration/licensure in the most recent country of practice.
• Tier 1 qualification and recent independent paediatric craniofacial practice.
• Eligibility to obtain a Department of Health – Abu Dhabi Consultant licence for the base specialty.
