Consultant Pediatric Plastic Surgeon

About the role

The Consultant Pediatric Plastic Surgeon will lead a dedicated team in delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based surgical care for children with congenital or acquired plastic surgery needs within SEHA’s Abu Dhabi facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based pediatric plastic surgery care.
• Conduct patient examinations, take histories, order and interpret diagnostics, prescribe treatments and develop comprehensive plans.
• Oversee ward rounds and manage both inpatient and outpatient cases.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, including specialists, GPs and residents.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Document clinical information accurately and ensure compliance with hospital, departmental and DOH policies.
• Participate in clinical audits, performance management and risk‑management activities to improve patient outcomes.
• Communicate clinical information compassionately to patients and families and obtain informed consent.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent degree from a recognized medical school.
• Successful completion of a structured specialty training program (e.g., Board Certification, Fellowship of a Royal College, or equivalent qualification from a DOH‑approved Tier 1/2 country).
• Postgraduate qualification such as MD, MS or DNB is generally required.
• 3‑7 years of post‑specialty clinical experience in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Eligibility for, or a valid, Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH) medical license.
• Ability to work within the regulatory framework of the Abu Dhabi health system.
