Consultant Physician – Tropical & Infectious Diseases

About the role

The Consultant Physician leads and supervises the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based care for patients with tropical and infectious diseases. The role demands clinical excellence, leadership of junior staff, and active participation in teaching, research and quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat and manage patients according to best‑practice standards for tropical and infectious diseases.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and ensure appropriate documentation.
• Oversee clinical activities of junior medical staff and assume responsibility for their patient care.
• Participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings, on‑call rotations and ensure 24/7 medical coverage.
• Support quality improvement, audit processes and incident reporting within the department.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years post‑board certification (Tier 1) or 8 years (Tier 2) as a consultant in an internationally accredited institute.
• Current national medical licence and proof of yearly CME participation.
• Clinical fellowship training (Australia, NZ, Canada, UK, USA or HAAD‑accredited) may count double towards experience.
