Consultant Stroke Medicine – Western Qualified (CCT)

About the role

Leading hospital in the UAE seeks an experienced Consultant in Stroke Medicine to join a multidisciplinary stroke and neuroscience team. The role involves managing acute and long‑term stroke cases, contributing to service development, and delivering evidence‑based patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute stroke and other cerebrovascular conditions.
• Provide timely evaluation and management of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, including thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy pathways.
• Deliver ongoing inpatient and outpatient care, develop individualized treatment and secondary prevention plans.
• Collaborate with neurology, neuroradiology, neurosurgery, emergency, rehabilitation, and intensive care teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary stroke meetings, case discussions, and interpret imaging studies.
• Support stroke prevention, rehabilitation, and long‑term management while maintaining accurate documentation and patient safety.
• Engage in clinical audits, research, teaching, and service development initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree with recognized postgraduate qualification in Neurology, Stroke Medicine, Internal Medicine, or a related specialty.
• Western qualification (American Board, UK CCT/CCST, or equivalent) with consultant‑level experience.
• Strong clinical experience in acute stroke, cerebrovascular disease, and stroke prevention, preferably in a comprehensive stroke unit or tertiary hospital.
• Knowledge of evidence‑based acute stroke management and reperfusion pathways.
• Excellent clinical decision‑making, multidisciplinary teamwork, communication, and commitment to patient safety and continuous professional development.
