About the role
Black & Grey HR is seeking a Contract Engineer to join our clients offshore and subsea operations team on a permanent basis in Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible for managing, administering and overseeing all contractual aspects of assigned projects – post‑award contract obligations. The role ensures contracts are executed in accordance with agreed terms, project requirements, and applicable contractual clauses, while minimizing commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and administer project contracts (e.g., EPC, Survey, Subsea, CPA contracts).
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
- Interpret contract clauses and provide guidance to the project team and client.
- Prepare, evaluate and recommend approval/rejection of contractor claims, variations, and change orders.
- Prepare and assess Extension of Time (EOT) claims and associated cost impacts.
- Identify potential contractual risks and advise mitigation strategies.
- Support dispute resolution, negotiations, and settlement of claims.
- Review interim payment applications and final accounts submitted by contractors.
- Ensure accurate measurement, valuation, and certification of works.
- Monitor cost performance against contract budgets and approve variations while supporting Cost/Planning Engineers.
- Prepare regular contractual and commercial reports for the client.
- Maintain proper records of correspondence, variations, claims and approvals.
- Ensure contract documentation is complete, accurate, and auditable.
- Work closely with project managers, planning, cost engineers and risk teams.
- Provide contractual advice during project meetings and progress reviews.
- Act as a key contractual interface between client, contractors, and consultants.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in contract administration and commercial management on large EPC projects.
- Professional certifications (e.g., MRICS, PMP, CCM) are an advantage.
- Experience managing contracts with an annual budget of USD 200 million+.
- Post‑award contracts experience preferred for assets, vessels, or equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities.
- Experience with periodic client/third‑party audit interactions and readiness reviews.
- Strong contract interpretation and negotiation skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
