About the role
We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Conveyor / MHE Supervisor to lead a team of technicians responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing and commissioning of conveyor systems and associated material handling equipment. The role involves daily supervision, work allocation, technical guidance, site coordination, safety compliance, quality control and timely completion of maintenance and project activities.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of conveyor/electromechanical technicians during maintenance, installation, repair and commissioning activities.
- Allocate daily work, monitor progress and ensure activities meet required timelines.
- Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
- Inspect and troubleshoot motors, gearboxes, bearings, rollers, belts, chains, sensors, control panels, VFDs, motor starters, limit switches and safety devices.
- Review recurring equipment faults and recommend corrective actions.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and equipment layouts.
- Coordinate with clients/site teams regarding maintenance activities, breakdowns and access requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure compliance with HSE, PPE and permit‑to‑work procedures.
- Maintain daily work records, maintenance reports and service documentation.
Required profile
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering (or strong supervisory experience for diploma holders).
- 5–8 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
- Proven experience supervising technicians, coordinating site maintenance and working directly with client representatives.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and reporting skills with a focus on safety and quality.
Required skills
- Conveyor systems and material handling equipment (belt, roller, chain conveyors).
- Motors, gearboxes, bearings, rollers, belts and chains.
- VFDs, motor starters, contactors, relays and control panels.
- Photoelectric sensors, proximity sensors, limit switches and safety devices.
- Electrical fault finding and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Conveyor alignment, tensioning and adjustment.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Installation, testing and commissioning.
- Basic PLC‑controlled conveyor systems.
- Reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Maintenance planning and breakdown management.
