Cost Control Engineer

About the role

Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory is looking for a detail‑oriented Cost Control Engineer to support the financial performance of multiple oil & gas and marine projects in Abu Dhabi. The role will work closely with project, commercial, production, finance and estimation teams to ensure accurate cost monitoring, forecasting and profitability throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Cost Controller in daily cost control activities and maintain department workflow.
• Monitor and analyse project‑related costs for assigned projects.
• Prepare Cost‑to‑Complete (CTC) reports for work‑in‑progress projects to support monthly closing and profit recognition.
• Interface with project, production, commercial and finance teams to develop forecasts and analyse profitability.
• Prepare cost reports for invoicing, management review and financial reporting.
• Track actual costs against approved budgets and report variances.
• Review purchase orders against project budgets before issuance.
• Generate weekly, fortnightly and monthly cost reports for management.
• Monitor costs recorded in SAP and coordinate with Finance on cost allocation.
• Investigate unusual cost transactions and ensure correct project and cost‑code allocation.
• Maintain variation registers and monitor change orders.
• Establish Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and budget elements based on scope and contract requirements.
• Communicate cost control procedures and ensure compliance across project teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years (60 months) of cost control experience in oil & gas, marine or construction projects.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams and deliver accurate financial forecasts.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
