Data Classification Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Data Classification Specialist to lead the labeling and protection of our clients’ data assets. In this senior position you will ensure that all information is correctly classified – Public, Confidential or Restricted – and that our classification tools are fully operational and auditable.

Key responsibilities

• Scan databases and identify sensitive data, applying appropriate security labels.
• Configure, maintain and run data classification platforms such as Microsoft Purview, IDMC Data Governance, Informatica EDC, Informatica Axon, IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog or BigID.
• Generate clear, client‑facing reports that demonstrate data classification status and compliance.
• Act as the primary technical contact during client audits and security reviews, providing access to tools and documentation.
• Collaborate with IT and database teams to remediate mis‑labelled records and close security gaps.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 10–15 years of experience in data security, data governance or IT auditing.
• Proven experience with security audits or compliance reviews (UAE PDPL, ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2).
• Strong ability to communicate technical security concepts to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills when handling sensitive information.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience (minimum 3 years) with Microsoft Purview, IDMC Data Governance, Informatica EDC, Informatica Axon, IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog or BigID.
• Solid SQL knowledge for querying data tables and columns.
