Dean of Social Science – Academic Leadership Role

About the role

The New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a distinguished scholar to serve as Dean of the Division of Social Science. Reporting to the Provost and joining the senior leadership team, the Dean will guide a vibrant community of over 80 faculty members, post‑doctoral researchers and students across economics, political science, public policy, business, and legal studies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic academic leadership for the Division, shaping curricula, research agenda and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Oversee recruitment, development and evaluation of faculty and staff, fostering an inclusive and high‑performing environment.
• Represent the Division to internal and external partners, enhancing its global visibility and impact on policy and practice.
• Steer graduate and undergraduate program quality, accreditation and innovation.
• Manage resources, budgeting and fundraising initiatives aligned with NYUAD’s mission.

Required profile

• Established record of scholarly excellence in social science disciplines, with a strong international reputation.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in higher‑education administration, preferably at the dean or equivalent level.
• Experience securing research funding and building interdisciplinary partnerships.
• Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in academic settings.
