Design Director

About the role

Join Artelia, an international engineering, consulting and project management group delivering complex and sustainable projects across infrastructure, buildings, mobility, water and energy. In the Middle East, you will play a key role in shaping the region's most significant aviation and infrastructure developments as a Design Director.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multidisciplinary design activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives, client requirements, programme milestones and quality standards.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, specialist designers and external consultants, fostering collaboration and efficient delivery across all disciplines.
• Support resource planning, workload forecasting and mobilization of design teams to meet project schedules.
• Act as a key interface with clients, authorities, contractors and project stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution of design matters.
• Ensure all design deliverables comply with client requirements, company standards, local authority regulations and applicable codes.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical submissions, providing guidance to ensure consistency, accuracy and buildability.
• Provide design clarifications, review contractor submissions and support site teams during construction.
• Track design progress, identify risks, monitor key milestones and provide regular updates to project leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in design management, architecture or engineering, including major infrastructure or airport projects.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and managing project deliverables across multiple disciplines.
• Solid understanding of design development, project delivery processes, design coordination and quality management.
• Experience working with clients, consultants, contractors and regulatory authorities.
• Strong knowledge of local authority requirements, codes, standards and approval processes.
• Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent English communication skills.
