Directional Drilling Engineer – Abu Dhabi

About the role

Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory (ASMEF) is seeking an experienced Directional Drilling Engineer to join its ASOS Upstream division in Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible for planning and executing directional drilling operations that deliver safe, accurate well trajectories.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, program and execute directional drilling jobs to meet target well paths.
• Operate and monitor directional drilling equipment, adjusting parameters as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment and operational issues on‑site.
• Collect, analyse and maintain drilling data and operational records.
• Collaborate with drilling engineers and multidisciplinary teams to optimise well performance and control costs.
• Adhere to HSE/QHSE standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work effectively in remote, high‑pressure environments.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of experience in drilling operations, preferably directional drilling.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Earth Sciences or a related field.
• Fluent English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Strong problem‑solving, teamwork and communication skills with a solid QHSE awareness.

Required skills

• Operation of directional drilling equipment.
• Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) knowledge.
• Drill strings and drilling fluids handling.
• Pressure control techniques.
• Proficiency with drilling and well‑design software (wellbore positioning, anti‑collision tools).
