Director of Architecture

About the role

The firm is a well‑established international architectural consultancy seeking a Director of Architecture to lead and expand its Architecture business unit across the Middle East. This senior leadership position will shape the strategic direction of the department, drive growth, and ensure design excellence on major mixed‑use, hospitality, commercial and residential projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Architecture department across the region, building a high‑performing team of architects and design leaders.
• Define and execute the strategic roadmap for the Architecture business unit, supporting regional growth initiatives.
• Oversee design quality and provide leadership on multiple large‑scale projects.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with key clients, developers and stakeholders.
• Support business development activities, win new work and expand existing client relationships.
• Improve operational performance, team capability and project delivery processes.
• Collaborate closely with the executive leadership team on business planning.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading architectural teams within a recognised international practice or major regional consultancy.
• Strong leadership credentials with a proven track record of managing, mentoring and developing multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated success in growing departments, studios or business units.
• Excellent client‑facing, commercial and stakeholder management skills.
• Deep understanding of large‑scale mixed‑use, hospitality, commercial and residential developments.
• Ability to oversee multiple projects while maintaining high design and delivery standards.
• Experience contributing to business development, strategic planning and winning new work.
• Previous Middle East experience is preferred.
