Document Controller – Construction

About the role

The Document Controller will manage all document movements, both electronic and paper, ensuring compliance with procedures, standards and regulatory requirements within Al Futtaim Contracting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all incoming and outgoing documents, maintaining an up‑to‑date document control system.
• Collate, monitor and distribute information regularly, issuing controlled copies in line with the Design Management Plan.
• Check drawings for conformance with agreed status and format, and liaise with designers and specialist suppliers on queries.
• Troubleshoot issues with the drawing management system and recommend procedural improvements.
• Supervise and train junior Document Control staff, providing guidance on system usage.
• Ensure adherence to safety, quality and environmental procedures and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Report project design performance to the Design Manager and perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Information Management or a related discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of document control experience in the construction industry.
• Strong organisational abilities, excellent communication skills and the capacity to train and supervise junior staff.
• Behavioural competencies such as customer focus, influencing, initiative, results orientation and adaptability.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Experience with document management systems and drawing control processes.
