Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

GHD is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop and deliver electrical systems for projects in Abu Dhabi. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet client specifications, local authority regulations, and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, earthing and lightning protection systems.
• Create detailed drawings, schematics and layouts using AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
• Perform electrical calculations including load analysis, short‑circuit analysis, voltage drop and cable sizing.
• Ensure compliance with DEWA, ADDC, UAE Fire Code and other authority requirements.
• Coordinate with MEP, architectural and infrastructure disciplines during design phases.
• Support tender documentation, technical specifications and liaise with suppliers and contractors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of electrical design experience, preferably in the UAE.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks.
• AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical or similar design software.
• Electrical calculations: load analysis, short‑circuit, voltage drop, cable sizing.
• Knowledge of DEWA, ADDC and UAE Fire Code regulations.
• Embedded systems, control systems and power distribution concepts.
