Electrical Technician – Industrial & Oil & Gas

About the role

The role involves installing, maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of electrical systems on on‑shore and off‑shore oil & gas projects. You will work closely with supervisors and engineers to ensure all electrical work meets strict industry and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out electrical installation, cable laying, glanding, termination and dressing for power, lighting, control and instrumentation systems.
• Install, maintain and commission equipment such as motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, distribution boards and control panels.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams and cable schedules.
• Perform electrical tests (continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth continuity) and document results.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot faults and ensure safe isolation using PTW and LOTO procedures.

Required profile

• ITI/Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Trade.
• 3–5 years of experience as an Electrical Technician in oil & gas, petrochemical, EPC or industrial maintenance.
• Hands‑on experience with LV systems and exposure to MV systems is preferred.
• Willingness to work in remote, offshore or desert locations.
• Strong problem‑solving, teamwork and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Electrical installation and cable laying
• Glanding, termination, crimping, ferruling and lugging
• Use of testing instruments (insulation resistance tester, multimeter, continuity tester, clamp meter)
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs and distribution boards
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, SLDs and wiring diagrams
• Hazardous‑area electrical work and compliance with oil & gas standards
• Implementation of PTW, LOTO and earthing/bonding procedures
