Embedded / Software Engineer (Middleware & Equipment Integration)

About the role

We are seeking an Embedded/Software Engineer to design and build a middleware layer that connects physical equipment to our software platforms. The role bridges hardware and software, handling data acquisition, protocol translation and real‑time API exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain middleware interfacing equipment (sensors, controllers, machines) with in‑house software.
• Implement device communication over serial (RS‑232/RS‑485), USB, Ethernet/TCP‑IP and industrial protocols such as Modbus, CAN bus, OPC‑UA, MQTT, BACnet.
• Build and document APIs and services (REST, WebSocket, gRPC, message queues) for equipment data and control.
• Develop data acquisition, buffering and synchronization logic for low‑latency, loss‑tolerant communication.
• Parse and normalize vendor‑specific data formats and SDKs into a unified internal model.
• Implement error recovery, reconnection, logging and health monitoring for connected devices.
• Collaborate with backend/application teams on integration contracts and with hardware/field teams to troubleshoot issues.
• Write unit and integration tests, create simulators/emulators, and maintain technical documentation.
• Support deployment on edge devices or industrial PCs (Linux/Windows), including packaging, updates and remote diagnostics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in embedded systems, device integration or systems‑level software development.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and/or Python; experience with Go, Rust or C#/.NET is a plus.
