Endoscopy Technician

About the role

The Royal Hospital Sharjah is seeking a qualified Endoscopy Technician to support both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. The role involves preparing the endoscopy suite, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining equipment according to strict infection‑control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate emergency and routine endoscopy procedures.
• Prepare endoscopes, accessories, ERBE machine and water irrigation system for each case.
• Assist physicians in diagnostic procedures such as esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and bronchoscopy.
• Support therapeutic interventions including variceal banding, sclerotherapy, polypectomy, balloon dilatation, argon plasma coagulation, foreign‑body removal, PEG placement, gastric balloon insertion and ERCP.
• Position patients, manage documentation and upload patient data using EndoBase software.
• Disinfect, store and maintain records for endoscopes and related equipment, ensuring compliance with infection‑control policies.
• Monitor equipment functionality, perform routine maintenance of the ETD and ERBE machines, and keep inventory of endoscopic accessories.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Endoscopy Technology or related field.
• Minimum two years of experience as an Endoscopy Technician in a hospital setting.
• Fluent written and spoken English with strong communication abilities.
• Ability to follow detailed procedural instructions accurately.

Required skills

• Proficiency with endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Operation of ERBE and ETD machines.
• Endoscope disinfection and storage protocols.
• Use of EndoBase software for patient data management.
• Computer literacy and record‑keeping skills.
