Field Electrician – Catwalk and Bucking Unit

About the role

The Field Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical and control systems on catwalks and bucking units used in tubular handling operations. The role ensures safe, efficient and reliable operation of power distribution, PLC, HMI and automation equipment while minimizing non‑productive time.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on catwalk and bucking unit electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair PLC hardware, I/O modules, communication networks and control logic.
• Maintain HMI systems, resolve freezes, restarts and communication failures.
• Diagnose and service Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for motors controlling conveyors and bucking unit rotation.
• Inspect, test and maintain power distribution components such as breakers, contactors, transformers and junction boxes.
• Read, interpret and update electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics.
• Execute cable termination, wiring and panel modifications during maintenance or upgrades.
• Support rig‑up, commissioning, rig‑down and mobilization/demobilization of equipment while complying with LOTO and Permit‑to‑Work procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of experience maintaining electrical equipment in field operations.
• Relevant offshore/onshore certifications and a valid electrician licence.
• Mathematical skills required for electrician certification.
