Field Protection Engineer – Abu Dhabi, UAE

About the role

Join Siemens in Abu Dhabi as a Field Protection Engineer, working on testing and commissioning of protection and automation systems for high‑voltage transmission projects across the UAE and the wider Middle East.

Key responsibilities

• Test and commission protection and automation systems for Siemens projects.
• Prepare SAT/FAT protocols, technical documentation and conduct Pre‑FAT/FAT activities with customers for protection panels (AVR, LIBBP, HIBBP, TIP, etc.).
• Develop commissioning procedures, method statements, work permits and testing protocols.
• Support product feedback, approvals and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Deliver technical presentations to customers and stakeholders.
• Perform fault analysis and root‑cause investigations on protection systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Electrical & Communication Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in protection and automation commissioning.
• Experience working in multicultural project environments.
• Experience with substation protection systems in the Middle East or international markets is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Siemens protection platforms such as SIPROTEC 4, SIPROTEC 5 and Reyrolle.
• Knowledge of power quality and substation automation systems.
• Strong understanding of IEC 61850 communication, GOOSE applications and relay configuration tools.
• Experience with control‑logic creation (BCPU/BCU) and configuration files (SCD, ICD, CID).
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols used in protection systems.
• Advanced experience with OMICRON test equipment and Test Universe (TU 4.20 or higher).
