Financial Auditor

About the role

The Financial Auditor conducts operational, compliance, financial and investigative audits within a university environment. This role ensures that resources are used efficiently, risks are managed, and financial activities comply with applicable laws and university policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual internal audit plan based on risk assessment, KPIs and strategic objectives.
• Conduct operational audits to evaluate processes, internal controls and resource utilization.
• Produce monthly or quarterly audit reports, present findings and recommend improvements.
• Follow‑up on audit observations to ensure timely closure and implementation of recommendations.
• Review and evaluate financial policies and procedures across all divisions for compliance and effectiveness.
• Identify fraud risks, resource misuse and suggest corrective actions.
• Analyze costing and pricing of university programs and propose profitability enhancements.
• Assess business proposals to support management decision‑making.
• Liaise with government auditors and external financial auditors to coordinate audit activities.
• Perform financial audits of transactions, verify payments, bank transfers, vouchers and salary disbursements for compliance with university governance.

Required profile

• Proven experience conducting operational, compliance and financial audits.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, audit methodology and university governance.
• Ability to prepare audit plans, reports and follow‑up on findings.
• Experience liaising with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Knowledge of financial regulations, compliance requirements and risk assessment.
