Free Zone Inspector – Marine Activities

About the role

The Free Zone Inspector will supervise and oversee both planned and unplanned inspections of companies operating within the Abu Dhabi Free Zone for marine activities. Working closely with an outsourced inspections team, the role ensures safe operations, regulatory compliance, and proper handling of goods.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that all companies hold a valid business licence and operate within the scope of their permitted activities.
• Conduct off‑site risk‑based inspections and on‑site visits to warehouses, offices, and industrial units, reporting any HSE violations or facility modifications.
• Ensure companies maintain accurate inventory systems and do not store prohibited or hazardous materials contrary to GCC customs law.
• Check that no unlicensed or residential activities are taking place within the zone.
• Confirm that all employees have valid Abu Dhabi Free Zone sponsorship, ID/access cards, and that salaries and benefits comply with employment contracts.
• Validate that industrial and storage units carry required insurance (workmen compensation, fire, third‑party liability, health).
• Maintain registers for beneficial owners, shareholders, and meeting minutes, and issue administrative penalties when needed.
• Follow up on non‑compliance issues and perform any other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Free Zone rules, regulations and HSE guidelines.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
• Minimum 3 years of experience inspecting or managing compliance within a free‑zone environment.
