General Accountant (Dubai)

About the role

Faster Rent a Car is seeking an experienced, data‑driven General Accountant to oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations in Dubai. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, support timely month‑end and year‑end closings, and maintain compliance with UAE VAT and corporate tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Handle general accounting and General Ledger (GL) activities, including journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes and perform bank, account, and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Reconcile rental contract revenues with the ERP system and oversee accounts receivable, aging reports, collections, and customer balances.
• Monitor credit‑card deposits, security holds, and calculate fleet depreciation while analyzing vehicle profitability.
• Prepare financial reports, variance analysis, and support VAT (5%) and Corporate Tax (9%) compliance.
• Coordinate with external auditors and ensure all accounting records are accurate and complete.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience in the UAE, preferably in an asset‑intensive industry.
• Strong knowledge of GL, reconciliations, and month‑end closing.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
• CMA or ACCA certification is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (Power Query, PivotTables, XLOOKUP).
• Experience with ERP systems; Odoo knowledge preferred.
• Basic SQL – ability to write and run simple queries.
• Practical use of AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude for reconciliation and analysis.
