General Manager – HV Substation Design Consultancy (Dubai)

About the role

This confidential search is for a General Manager to lead a well‑established HV/EHV electrical infrastructure consultancy in Dubai. The role starts with a one‑year transition alongside the founder, progressing to full P&L and operational responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Year 1: Partner with the founder, embed in client relationships, oversee project delivery and internal operations.
• Year 2 onward: Lead a 50‑person technical organization, driving engineering delivery, commercial performance, client relationships and team development.
• Regular travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to support the company’s regional footprint.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in HV/EHV transmission and distribution consulting with hands‑on substation design.
• Established relationships with UAE utilities (DEWA, TRANSCO, ADDC/EAD, SEWA, FEWA); authorized signatory status is a strong plus.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Interest in a succession‑style role, stepping into the founder’s position over time.
• Fluent English (Arabic a plus) and strong commercial fluency (tendering, margin management, working capital).
