General Technician – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

The General Technician supports the hotel’s facilities team by responding promptly to guest repair requests and performing preventive maintenance across the property. This role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other building systems operate safely and efficiently for guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest repair requests in a timely manner.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, mechanical rooms and HVAC systems.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment and machines; carry necessary tools and radios.
• Identify, locate and operate shut‑off valves for equipment and building utilities.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and issues to the next shift using approved procedures.
• Carry out basic repairs: HVAC, electrical components, plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall, and landscaping.
• Use Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
• Program televisions, perform housekeeping‑related inventory duties and update air‑handler schedules.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies; report hazards and incidents.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of air‑conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls.
• Ability to acquire additional technical knowledge on the job.
• Basic computer skills for inputting schedules and making temperature changes.
• Professional appearance, confidentiality and respect for company assets.
• Strong communication skills to interact with guests and shift teams.
