General Technician

About the role

The General Technician provides on‑site maintenance support for Aloft Hotels in Dubai, ensuring guest rooms and public areas remain functional and safe. You will respond quickly to repair requests, perform preventive maintenance, and keep the property’s equipment in optimal condition.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests and communicate resolutions.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical‑room assets, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment and machines; identify and operate shut‑off valves for utilities.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Document daily activities and hand over information to subsequent shifts.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood‑trim repairs, and clean work areas.
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclog drains), electrical components, replace switches, outlets and light bulbs.
• Program televisions, manage housekeeping‑related inventory, and perform landscaping and sprinkler repairs.
• Use Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work and follow all safety policies.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of air‑conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry and general building maintenance.
• Ability to acquire additional technical knowledge as needed.
• Professional appearance, confidentiality and adherence to safety standards.
