General Technician & Plumber

About the role

The General Technician & Plumber will ensure all engineering work in the hotel follows safe practices, hotel procedures and statutory requirements. You will respond quickly to health‑and‑safety incidents, water leaks, flooding and other urgent issues while minimizing disruption to guests and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest and colleague maintenance requests promptly and courteously.
• Carry out plumbing installation, inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance across guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, laundry and plant rooms.
• Maintain hot‑ and cold‑water supply systems, pipework, valves, pumps, storage tanks, circulation systems and water heaters.
• Repair toilets, showers, baths, sinks, taps, mixers, flush valves and other sanitary fittings.
• Identify and rectify leaks, blocked drains, damaged pipework and defective fittings; investigate root causes where possible.
• Support drainage, waste, sewage and storm‑water systems, including floor drains and traps.
• Assist with plumbing connections for kitchen, laundry, ice‑making and dishwasher equipment.
• Perform basic general maintenance such as minor electrical work, HVAC assistance, carpentry, painting, tiling, sealing, grouting and furniture repairs.
• Collaborate with other engineering trades during planned maintenance, breakdowns and renovation projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 2–3 years of practical experience as a plumber, general technician or maintenance technician, preferably in a hotel environment.
• Knowledge of hotel safety procedures and statutory engineering requirements.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize urgent tasks and communicate professionally with guests and colleagues.
