Grip Assistant

About the role

The Grip Assistant supports the lighting and rigging processes on film productions, working under the direction of the key grip and collaborating closely with the camera and electrical departments. You will help ensure each shot is properly lit and equipped, while maintaining a safe and efficient set environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with lighting set‑ups and rigging equipment for each shot.
• Provide camera support, including operating dollies, cranes and other support rigs.
• Assemble, maintain, and transport heavy equipment such as tripods, tracks, cranes and static rigs.
• Load and unload gear at filming locations and ensure safe handling.
• Repair, clean, and modify equipment, including cutting diffusers and sewing tarps or tents.
• Set up sound boards, electrical systems, wardrobe and props as needed.
• Protect cameras from weather using canvas covers and other safeguards.
• Coordinate with the electrical department to match lighting to the creative vision and dismantle equipment after shoots.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in film making or production.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work on set.
