Head of English Department

About the role

The school is seeking an experienced Head of English Department to lead and develop its English curriculum in Dubai. This senior academic position will be responsible for raising student attainment, overseeing teaching quality, and managing departmental resources. The role combines strategic leadership with day‑to‑day operational oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Set and monitor high standards of student achievement across the English curriculum.
• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum.
• Manage and support teaching and support staff, including recruitment, performance appraisal and professional development.
• Oversee departmental budgeting, resource allocation and physical assets.
• Collaborate with senior school leadership to align departmental goals with overall school objectives.
• Analyse student progress data and implement interventions to support learners.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualifications such as a BA, B.Ed in English or an MA in English.
• Proven experience in leading an English department or similar academic unit.
• Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment practices and educational standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
