Head of Inclusion (Female)

About the role

The Head of Inclusion leads the school’s inclusion strategy, ensuring that students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Gifted & Talented (G&T) receive high‑quality support. Reporting directly to the Principal, this senior leader oversees policy, budgeting and the delivery of tailored interventions across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain a register of all students with specific educational needs.
• Develop, monitor and review inclusion policies and procedures.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operation of the inclusion programme, including budget management and resource allocation.
• Track progress of targeted students in partnership with teachers and team leaders, collecting and analysing data.
• Conduct individual assessments, support the design and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and coordinate interventions.
• Identify learning barriers and share strategies with staff.
• Mentor, induct and line‑manage inclusion staff, monitoring performance.
• Report to teachers and parents, ensuring clear communication and timely updates.
• Provide training and coaching for classroom learning assistants.
• Manage exam and assessment accommodations for eligible students.
• Conduct classroom and student observations to support teacher development.
• Implement screening and diagnostic procedures to identify learning needs.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading SEN, EAL and G&T programmes within a school setting.
• Strong knowledge of inclusion policies, IEP development and intervention design.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with parents, external agencies and senior leadership.
• Leadership experience, including staff mentoring and performance management.
• Ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
