Head of Inclusion

About the role

The Indian Academy Dubai is seeking a well‑qualified Head of Inclusion to lead its special education provision. The successful candidate will shape and implement the school’s SEN policy, ensuring every learner receives tailored support in line with KHDA guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the strategic development of SEN policy and provision.
• Lead the inclusion team, managing learning support teachers, LSAs and support staff.
• Use a variety of assessment tools to identify student needs.
• Collaborate with admissions and phase heads to assess prospective students.
• Monitor progress of SEN and gifted & talented students through observations, reports and meetings.
• Develop, implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) with teachers, parents and external agencies.
• Provide regular written updates on pupil progress and conduct parent meetings.
• Make referrals and liaise with psychologists, therapists and other professionals.
• Train classroom teachers on supporting pupils with SEN and adapting lesson plans.
• Manage resources and the inclusion register, ensuring accurate records.
• Lead CPD activities, projects and initiatives related to inclusion.
• Analyse school and national data to develop intervention strategies.
• Stay current with national and local SEN policies and disseminate information.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education.
• Certified teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed.).
• KHDA approval as SENCO preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of UAE experience in a senior SEN role.
