Health Safety Environment Officer

About the role

Bilfinger Middle East is looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Officer to join its operations team in Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining HSE standards across industrial maintenance and project sites, ensuring compliance with client and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Implement company HSE policies and the HSE Management System (HSEMS).
• Monitor site safety through inspections, audits, walkthroughs and permit‑to‑work compliance.
• Conduct toolbox talks and HSE training for employees and subcontractors.
• Perform risk assessments, recommend corrective actions and close HSE observations.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near‑misses and prepare detailed reports.
• Drive HSE awareness initiatives, employee engagement campaigns and monthly HSE committee meetings.
• Participate in client meetings, audits and site inspections.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness activities and emergency drills.
• Maintain HSE documentation and reports for management and clients.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related field.
• NEBOSH IGC (mandatory); IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of HSE experience in mechanical maintenance, industrial services, oil & gas turnarounds or plant operations.
• Experience with UAE clients such as ADNOC, EGA, TAQA or Borouge.
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations and industry best practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Fluent in English; Hindi or Urdu a plus.
