Heavy Equipment Operator (Government Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support a government contract on a military installation. The role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing a variety of construction equipment to ensure roads, drainage, and other infrastructure remain functional and compliant with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as cranes, excavators, front‑end loaders, skid steers, forklifts and street sweepers to perform grading, compaction, drainage, and pavement work.
• Maintain and repair graded and gravel roads, open ditches, foundations, slabs, and chain‑link fences.
• Interpret construction drawings, surveys, and technical manuals to determine subgrade contours, grade alignment, and erosion control measures.
• Plan, estimate, and coordinate work with civil engineering and base agencies, ensuring compliance with policies and safety regulations.
• Perform routine inspections and quality checks on completed work.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum five years recent heavy‑equipment experience in military or commercial settings.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• Valid driver’s license; CDL Class A or B preferred.

Required skills

• Operation of cranes (including 100‑ton), excavators, front‑end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and street sweepers.
• Chain‑link fence construction and repair.
• OSHA‑certified crane operation.
• Computer literacy for reading technical manuals and TM instructions.
