Help Desk Officer

About the role

The Computing Services department at Zayed University is looking for a Help Desk Officer to deliver on‑site technical support for laptops used by students and faculty. The role involves installing university‑specific software, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and providing one‑to‑one training on applications.

Key responsibilities

• Provide laptop support at the Help Desk, including installation of Windows NT, GroupWise, Microsoft Office and printer/scanner drivers.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software problems and re‑image computers with specialised software.
• Conduct informal, one‑to‑one training sessions on university‑specific applications.
• Deliver training during faculty orientation for both English‑ and Arabic‑speaking staff.
• Visit faculty, staff and VIP offices across campus to resolve technical issues.
• Distribute new laptops to faculty at the start of the academic year.
• Log and route support calls using Support Magic Help Desk software.
• Be available to work outside normal hours when required.

Required profile

• College degree or equivalent experience in software installation and troubleshooting.
• Fluent in both Arabic and English.
• Familiarity with Arabic‑enabled Windows environments.

Required skills

• Windows NT and Windows 2000 (Arabic enabled).
• Microsoft Office suite.
• GroupWise email system.
• Printer and scanner driver installation.
• Support Magic Help Desk ticketing system.
• Computer hardware troubleshooting and re‑imaging.
