HSE Lead

About the role

The HSE Lead will develop, implement and continuously improve the health, safety and environmental management framework for a manufacturing site in Abu Dhabi. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Facilities and Production, the role ensures compliance with UAE regulations and defense industry standards while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and continuously improve site HSE policies, procedures, risk assessments and audit routines.
• Lead hazard identification, incident investigations and root‑cause analysis, ensuring timely corrective actions.
• Maintain legal compliance with UAE HSE regulations, ergonomics and environmental requirements.
• Design and deliver HSE training programs, track records and ensure compliance.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits across shop‑floor, warehouse and laboratory areas, driving closure of findings.
• Monitor and report HSE KPIs using lagging and leading indicators.
• Oversee HSE reviews for process or equipment changes, including JSA, LOTO, chemical handling and emergency preparedness.
• Manage contractor safety and permit‑to‑work processes when applicable.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of HSE experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations and defense industry standards.
• Proven ability to deploy HSE management systems and lead audits with effective follow‑up.
• Demonstrated expertise in incident investigation and root‑cause analysis.
• Recognized HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) preferred; exposure to ISO 45001 or EMS is a plus.
• Hands‑on capability in dynamic, ramp‑up environments involving equipment installation and contractor activities.
