HSE Officer – Freelance (M/F/D)

About the role

This freelance position supports the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System for a construction project in Abu Dhabi. The role starts ASAP and runs until December 2026, with a possible extension.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation and improvement of the project HSE Management System, policies, plans and procedures.
• Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with HSE standards, procedures and safe working practices.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety observations, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop, implement and maintain risk assessments, method statements and Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) processes.
• Coordinate site inductions, toolbox talks, HSE briefings and training, maintaining appropriate records.
• Track HSE performance, maintain statistics, inspection records, incident documentation and other correspondence.
• Verify subcontractor compliance with HSE requirements and monitor their performance.
• Support inspections of tools, machinery, lifting equipment and PPE for compliance.
• Assist in emergency preparedness activities, drills and follow‑up actions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, identify root causes and support corrective measures.
• Participate in or lead HSE meetings with project teams, subcontractors and client representatives.

Required profile

• Valid documentation, permits and visas to work legally in the United Arab Emirates for the assignment duration.
• Availability to start immediately and work onsite in Abu Dhabi.
