HVAC / Duty Technician

About the role

Aloft Hotels, part of Marriott International, is hiring a full-time HVAC / duty technician in Dubai. The role covers responding to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance and basic repairs on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, and keeping the maintenance inventory stocked.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest repair requests, communicating clearly with guests and customers
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines
• Identify, locate and operate shut-off valves and utility shut-offs, and use the Lockout/Tagout system before any maintenance work
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (plunge toilets, unclog drains), electrical components, lamps, switches and outlets, and guestroom items
• Replace A/C filters, paint, do minor drywall and wood trim repair, and clean up work areas thoroughly
• Program TVs, do general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties, and perform landscaping and sprinkler repairs
• Input air handler schedules and make temperature changes on a computer
• Report safety hazards, accidents or injuries, follow safety and security policies, and welcome guests professionally

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred
• Some experience in general maintenance, surface preparation and painting preferred
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is a plus
• No supervisory experience required
• Driver's license required

Required skills

• Basic knowledge or ability to learn air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and general building
• Basic computer skills, including entering air handler schedules
