Information Technology Specialist - Business Central

About the role

An international fashion distribution business uses Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its core ERP, integrated with warehouse, eCommerce and marketplace systems. It is looking for a Business Central specialist who lives and breathes the platform: a purely BC-focused role supporting, extending and improving a live, integrated environment, working internally and with an external development partner.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support for Business Central across the entities: troubleshooting posting issues, integration errors, permission problems and data questions until resolved.
• Develop and maintain AL extensions following Microsoft guidelines and AppSource-grade best practices, such as event subscribers over base-app changes and clean upgrade paths.
• Work with the external development partner on larger builds: reviewing pull requests, testing deliverables against specs and holding the line on code quality and scope.
• Support and monitor the integration landscape (WMS interfaces, Shopify and others), investigating failed messages and proposing fixes rather than workarounds.
• Use AI tooling as part of daily work: AI-assisted coding for AL, BC Copilot and AI agents that genuinely reduce effort.
• Translate business requests into clear technical requirements, challenging requests that do not make sense by proposing the standard BC approach first.
• Manage environment hygiene: sandbox refreshes, extension deployments, telemetry review, Feature Management and preparation for major version upgrades.
• Work with users from warehouse operators to finance leads and C-level, communicating in each audience's language.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience (or NAV with recent BC cloud experience) in a technical or techno-functional capacity.
• Prior experience in retail or distribution.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Nice to have: exposure to Power Platform, experience in fashion, familiarity with Azure DevOps and Git, and MB-800 or AL developer credentials.

Required skills

• Solid AL development in VS Code: table and page extensions, codeunits, event subscribers, APIs, report layouts.
• Understanding of the posting engine, dimensions, posting groups, item ledger and warehouse structures.
• Practical experience with AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude) and the judgment to verify their output.
• Ability to work with end users, finance teams, external partners and senior management.
