Interpreter/Unit Clerk – Tower B7 Medical Wing

About the role

The Interpreter/Unit Clerk in Tower B7 of the Medical Wing provides essential interpretation, translation and patient‑escort services for Arabic‑speaking patients receiving care. You will act as a communication bridge between healthcare providers, patients and their families, ensuring accurate understanding of medical information.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret verbal and written medical information from English to Arabic and vice‑versa for patients, families and clinical staff.
• Translate patient education materials, appointment reminders and other health‑care documents.
• Provide cross‑cultural orientation to help non‑English speakers navigate the medical system.
• Maintain accurate documentation of interpreted information and patient interactions.
• Participate in on‑call coverage to deliver interpretation services outside regular business hours.
• Support incident reporting, confidentiality compliance and quality standards for nursing documentation.
• Foster positive relationships with department staff and other hospital units.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in medical interpretation or a related healthcare setting.
• Diploma in Business Administration, English Language or a comparable qualification.
• Experience working in a large healthcare facility is desirable.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient confidentiality policies.

Required skills

• Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written).
• Accurate medical interpretation and translation abilities.
• Ability to document and relay information precisely.
• Knowledge of healthcare documentation standards.
