IT Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own and operate our on‑premises data centre and hybrid Azure environment in Abu Dhabi. The role combines physical infrastructure management with cloud and Microsoft 365 administration, ensuring security, availability and optimal performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the on‑premises data centre, including capacity planning, racking, cabling, power, cooling and physical security.
• Maintain documentation, asset inventory and rack diagrams while following change‑management processes.
• Plan and execute hardware refreshes, firmware upgrades, patching cycles and decommissioning with minimal business impact.
• Define and enforce backup, monitoring and disaster‑recovery practices for on‑prem workloads.
• Configure and manage firewalls, core and access switches, wireless access points and servers; maintain VLANs, routing, VPNs and ACLs.
• Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi and VPN connectivity issues and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Own end‑to‑end IT hardware procurement, vendor evaluation, purchase orders, asset tagging and lifecycle tracking.
• Design and operate hybrid networking between on‑premises infrastructure and Azure (VNets, subnets, peering, ExpressRoute/VPN gateways, NSGs, route tables).

Required profile

• Proven experience managing data‑centre hardware such as servers, switches, firewalls and access points.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking components and Microsoft 365 services.
• Hands‑on expertise with routing, VLANs, DNS and VPN technologies.
• Ability to lead hardware procurement cycles and negotiate with OEMs and distributors.
• Experience implementing backup, monitoring and disaster‑recovery solutions.
