Japanese Sports Localization Specialist (Football)

About the role

We are looking for a Japanese Sports Localization Specialist focused on football to join our UAE‑based team. You will ensure football content is accurately translated, culturally relevant and engaging for Japanese audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Review, translate, localize, fact‑check and adapt football‑related content for Japanese readers.
• Ensure all localized material follows style guides, terminology standards and quality criteria.
• Conduct market‑specific research on Japanese football terminology, audience preferences and localization best practices.
• Assess content for linguistic accuracy, cultural relevance, readability, tone and consistency.
• Provide constructive feedback to writers and identify opportunities to improve localization quality.
• Support quality‑control activities across multimedia formats and apply deep football subject‑matter expertise.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and/or at least 2 years of professional experience in translation, localization, sports journalism or related fields.
• Extensive knowledge of football terminology, competitions, players, teams and fan culture.
• Native‑level fluency in Japanese with excellent grammar, writing, proofreading and editing skills.
• Strong written English ability to understand source material accurately.
• Creative writing and editorial skills to adapt voice and style for different audiences.
• Practical technology skills, confidence with computers, mobile devices, word processors and spreadsheets, and ownership of licensed Microsoft Office.
