Junior Water Design Engineer

About the role

CDM Smith is seeking a motivated Junior Water Design Engineer to support planning, design, and delivery of water infrastructure projects across the GCC region. The role offers the chance to work alongside experienced engineers on municipal and utility projects for government authorities, developers, and utilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in design and analysis of water transmission, distribution, sewerage, stormwater, TSE, irrigation systems and pumping stations.
• Prepare engineering calculations, design reports, technical notes, specifications and produce drawings in coordination with BIM and CAD teams.
• Develop and update hydraulic models, perform simulations, analyze outputs and provide technical recommendations.
• Support project delivery by coordinating multidisciplinary inputs, participating in meetings, and ensuring tasks meet timelines.
• Assist with authority and client coordination, including preparation of submissions, NOC and design approval processes.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, RFIs and provide engineering support during tendering and construction phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s in Water Resources or related is advantageous).
• 3–7 years of experience in water infrastructure design, preferably on GCC municipal or utility projects.
• Familiarity with local authority standards in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain or Kuwait.

• WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWorks ICM, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS.
• ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit/BIM platforms.
