Laboratory Technician – Electromechanical & Mechatronics

About the role

The School of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology at Canadian University Dubai is looking for a full‑time Laboratory Technician to support the Mechatronics Engineering and Power & Renewable Energy Engineering teaching labs. Reporting to the Dean or Chair of Electrical Engineering, the role ensures safe, reliable, and accreditation‑ready laboratory operations, allowing academic staff to focus on teaching and research.

Key responsibilities

• Manage laboratory inventory, consumables, and equipment records.
• Prepare, set up, and test experiments for scheduled teaching sessions.
• Provide technical assistance during labs, demonstrations, and workshops.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure consistent performance and safety.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and accreditation requirements, supporting audits and continuous improvement.
• Assist student projects, capstone activities, and applied research, offering guidance on safe equipment use.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Power Engineering or a closely related field.
• Formal training or proven experience in laboratory or technical support roles.
• Hands‑on experience with electrical and mechatronics laboratory equipment.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices and hardware troubleshooting.
• Effective organisational and communication skills.
