Lead Contract Engineer

About the role

Wood is looking for a Lead Contract Engineer to join the PMC team delivering the ADNOC Offshore Umm Shaif Gas Cap Phase 1 Onshore Project (Packages 2 & 3) in Abu Dhabi. The role will provide contractual and commercial leadership across the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with ADNOC requirements and protecting the client’s commercial interests.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all contract administration and management activities for assigned packages.
• Act as the primary PMC focal point for contractual matters between ADNOC Offshore, the PMC and EPC contractors.
• Review, administer and monitor EPC, procurement, construction and service contracts throughout execution.
• Interpret contract terms, advise on rights, obligations and liabilities, and support negotiation of amendments, variations and supplemental agreements.
• Evaluate change requests, manage the change‑management process and document approved changes.
• Assess Extension of Time submissions and contractor claims related to delays, disruptions, acceleration and additional compensation.
• Prepare contractual assessments, recommendations and formal responses to claims.
• Maintain comprehensive records of contractual communications, notices, claims and change documentation.
• Participate in commercial risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a PMC Lead Contract Engineer on large‑scale oil & gas or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, commercial management, change management and claims handling.
• Ability to interpret complex contract terms and provide clear guidance to project teams.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with ADNOC, EPC contractors and internal stakeholders.
