Lead HSE Engineer

About the role

The Lead HSE Engineer will develop, implement and oversee the Health, Safety and Environment strategy for multiple construction projects in Dubai. This senior role ensures full compliance with UAE legislation, international standards and company policies while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage HSE programs, policies and site teams across several projects.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, ISO standards and internal safety requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits and environmental monitoring.
• Deliver HSE training, toolbox talks and awareness sessions.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare performance reports and maintain accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients and authorities to sustain safe site operations.
• Promote sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement in HSE practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years experience as an Environmental Engineer in construction.
• 6–8 years of dedicated HSE experience in the construction sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or Occupational Safety.
• Strong knowledge of HSE systems, audits and incident investigations.
• Proven ability to lead teams and influence safety culture.

Required skills

• NEBOSH IGC certification.
• IOSH certification.
• OSHA certification.
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification (preferred).
• ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification (preferred).
• Risk assessment and safety audit expertise.
• Incident investigation and corrective action planning.
