Lead Nurse – Outpatient Department (OPD)

About the role

King’s College Hospital London Dubai is looking for an experienced Lead Nurse to oversee its Outpatient Department (OPD). The role combines clinical expertise with operational leadership to ensure safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred care across all outpatient services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visible clinical nursing leadership across the OPD.
• Manage day‑to‑day nursing operations, clinic readiness, patient flow and staff deployment.
• Support nurses with complex assessments and decision‑making.
• Ensure compliance with evidence‑based guidelines, DHA regulations and JCI/JCIA standards.
• Lead audits, quality‑improvement initiatives and risk‑management activities.
• Develop clinical protocols, care pathways and SOPs.
• Motivate, develop and coordinate the nursing team, including staffing levels and skill mix.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance appraisals and staff development.
• Monitor patient experience, complaints and clinical incidents, and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the CERNER EMR system and manage OPD consumables and equipment.

Required profile

• BSc Nursing (or equivalent) – minimum requirement.
• Post‑graduate qualification in nursing leadership, clinical nursing or healthcare management (desirable).
• At least 7 years post‑registration nursing experience, with 2 years in a senior outpatient or ambulatory role.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership, team management and quality‑improvement experience.
• Strong knowledge of DHA regulations and JCI/JCIA accreditation standards.
• Current and valid DHA nursing licence (or eligibility for registration).
• Resuscitation certification appropriate to the specialty and ongoing CPD.
• Excellent English communication; Arabic is advantageous.
