Lead Telecom Design Manager – Rail Projects

About the role

The Design/Engineering Manager will lead all telecom design and engineering activities for railway projects in Dubai. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will ensure robust, cost‑effective and compliant solutions across the project lifecycle, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and interfacing with civil, MEP and rolling‑stock domains.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and staff design functions, allocate responsibilities and provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Develop and approve system designs, technical specifications, drawings and calculations for telecom subsystems such as fiber‑optic transmission, IP/MPLS networks, TETRA/LTE/FRMCS radio, CCTV, PIDS, PAS and data‑center infrastructure.
• Manage interface coordination with signalling, SCADA, depot, civil, MEP and rolling‑stock systems, ensuring RAMS compliance.
• Establish and monitor the Design Quality Assurance Plan, guaranteeing compliance with contract, Dubai regulations and international standards.
• Support procurement through technical evaluation of vendor proposals and oversee testing, commissioning and hand‑over to operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering; Master’s degree and professional railway memberships preferred.
• 15‑18 years of railway telecommunications design/engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a senior design‑management role.
• Proven experience on large rail/metro projects in the UAE or GCC region.
