About the role
The Legal Counsel will support Al Dhafra Petroleum and Al Yasat Petroleum by providing legal, governance and compliance advice. Reporting to the General Counsel, the role works on‑shore in Abu Dhabi and collaborates with multiple business units to manage legal risk and ensure alignment with ADNOC Group policies and UAE law.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate EPC agreements, SLAs, technical support and confidentiality agreements.
- Provide legal opinions and risk assessments on corporate transactions, joint ventures and concession agreements.
- Advise on high‑value claims and disputes, liaise with external counsel and support arbitration and litigation.
- Prepare board meeting materials, capture minutes and ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
- Support ethics and compliance programmes, participate in internal audits and risk committee reviews.
- Engage with ADNOC HQ Legal, external regulators and shareholders, representing the legal function in cross‑functional meetings.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognised university.
- Common Law qualification and a valid practising certificate.
- Legal training from a reputable law firm.
- Minimum 5 years of legal experience in the petroleum or industrial sector, preferably in the UAE.
- Strong understanding of commercial principles and project contracts.
