Linux/SRE Engineer

About the role

Synechron is seeking an experienced Linux/SRE Engineer to lead and evolve its Linux infrastructure in Abu Dhabi. The role combines strategic roadmap development with hands‑on operational excellence across physical, virtual and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the long‑term architectural strategy and modernization roadmap for the Linux environment.
• Lead, mentor and manage a high‑performing Linux engineering team, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Establish governance, standards and best practices for system configuration, patching, security hardening, change control, documentation and automation.
• Oversee budgets, licensing, vendor relationships and procurement for Linux‑related technologies.
• Support, administer and maintain all Linux servers (physical and virtual) in on‑premises and hybrid cloud settings.
• Plan and execute operating system upgrades, application migrations, kernel updates and hardware refresh programs.
• Design, install and optimise infrastructure components in virtualised environments and ensure seamless integration with cloud platforms.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional experience with Linux systems and site reliability engineering.
• Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and driving architectural initiatives.
• Strong background in budgeting, vendor management and procurement for technology solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to implement governance, security hardening and automation at scale.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects.
