Manual Machinist - Vertical Lathe

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to operate vertical lathes and related equipment in our Abu Dhabi facility. The role involves setting up, running and maintaining machines to produce parts that meet strict quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional lathes, horizontal and vertical boring machines, milling machines and other equipment according to work orders.
• Inspect cutting tools and materials, replace tools as needed, and report any defects to the workshop supervisor.
• Maintain safe operating practices and housekeeping in line with QHSE policies.
• Coordinate with the QC inspector after each job to ensure dimensional compliance.
• Hand over shift information clearly, communicating any safety or work‑related updates.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances and required machining sequences.
• Monitor machine operation, detect malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance conditions and adjust controls accordingly.
• Select, align and secure fixtures, tools, attachments and workpieces on lathes, mills, borers and grinders.
• Perform routine maintenance, housekeeping and any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years (36 months) of hands‑on experience operating lathes, boring machines and milling equipment.
• Proven ability to read technical drawings and work orders accurately.
• Experience performing dimensional checks and working with QC inspectors.
• Good understanding of QHSE policies and commitment to safety.
